ACTION: A letter to China
[From the Save Darfur Coalition:]
36,451 Save Darfur Coalition activists have already called on their members of Congress to sign a letter to Chinese President Hu urging him to use China’s power to stop the genocide.
Recent news from the region is grim–violence is spilling out of Sudan into neighboring Chad. Every day, countless men, women, and children face violence, starvation, and disease.
In light of this escalating violence, we must ensure that our representatives send a strong message to China now. Please join me today in calling your representative and urging him to add his voice to Congress’ letter to President Hu.
Just follow these simple steps:
1. Dial 202-224-3121 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and ask to be connected to your member of Congress’ office.
2. Tell the staff person who answers the phone that you’re calling to urge your representative to sign on to Representatives Hoyer and Capuano’s letter to Chinese President Hu telling him to help put an end to the violence in Darfur.
3. Click here to report your call back to the Save Darfur Coalition (this step is critical for organizational purposes - please don’t skip it).
As Sudan’s largest trade partner and foreign investor, China has the power to help end the violence in Darfur. We need our representatives to sign this bipartisan letter urging the Chinese government to lead the world community and help restore peace in Darfur.
Please follow the steps above to call your representative and then click here to report your call back to us.
Thank you again for your commitment to peace and protection for the people of Darfur.
