ACTION: Call President Bush – Tell him to include Sudan in his State of the Union address

[An action alert from STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition:]

Tonight, President Bush will deliver his annual State of the Union address to the Congress and the American people. His words will be heard not only by all of Congress and over 50 million Americans, but also governments and citizens throughout the world.

Call the White House at 202-456-1111 today to urge President Bush to include Sudan in his State of the Union and address how he will use his final year in office to pursue a Sudan strategy that will advance the Darfur Peace Process, see to the deployment of UNAMID, and follow through on the CPA.

The President must make good on his promises and demonstrate the high priority he has placed on peace in Sudan. Help make Sudan a Presidential priority in 2008 by calling the White House today!

The President is a key player in stopping genocide in Sudan, and over the next semester STAND will be targeting the Executive Branch and its potential to put an end to the genocide. There are many tools at President Bush’s disposal that he has yet to use. It’s up to us to remind him that he has one year to make his executive legacy on Sudan one of stopping genocide, not standing by as it occurs.

Let’s make sure the President knows that STAND students [and the whole country!] are paying attention to him tonight.

This is one pressure that people can voice out their concerns. I have also visited the site STAND, they have a lot of information on the situation there in Sudan and there are a lot of solutions in store too.I have been visiting The Emma Academy Project and I think that being directly involved with the building of a school in Leer, Sudan would be very nice too.
