An action alert from the Genocide Intervention Network:

Tomorrow [Friday, April 3, 2009] is Day 75 of the Obama Administration. Congress has taken some important steps toward protecting civilians in Darfur this year, but major humanitarian groups such as Oxfam and Mercy Corps are still barred from operating in Sudan, putting more than a million people in jeopardy. Join activists from across the country tomorrow as we give Congress a wake-up call.

First thing tomorrow morning, contact your members of Congress by calling 1-800-GENOCIDE (1-800-436-6243). Ask them to use their influence with President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton to ensure that America’s leaders are doing all they can to reverse the Government of Sudan’s expulsion of humanitarian aid groups from Darfur.

Next, follow-up in person with your member of Congress. From April 6-17, members of Congress will return to their districts for spring recess. There is still time to schedule a meeting with your member of Congress about what they can do for the people of Darfur. If you are interested in setting up a meeting, please contact Allyson Neville at Neville [at] genocideintervention.net or call (202) 481-8220.
